Day 9
"I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world." -Mary Anne Radacher
We feel like the education
system in Belize has many differences than our education system in the states.
Some of those differences that we have noticed are, we believe students receive
more breaks between content here, we believe it is not as structured. We have
also found out that students aren’t given many opportunities to think
creatively during writing. All students in Belize are always excited to come to
school where in the United States often times only young students are excited
to come to schools each and every day.
We would like to incorporate in our classrooms the many
breaks throughout the day, not necessarily going outside after each content
lesson. We believe sometimes schools in America can feel like a prison, in
Belize students enjoy school and we believe the many breaks prevent that
feeling in Belize. Another thing we would like to incorporate in the states is,
creating an environment where students and teachers have mutual respect among
their peers.
